The marathon weekend kicks off with a Health and Wellness Expo along downtown's beautiful waterfront on Friday, Oct. 4. Festivities continue through Saturday, with the Aquarium of the Pacific 5k race welcoming athletes of all levels and providing the perfect warm-up for Sunday's marathon event.
Sunday's landmark celebration will feature the historic 26.2-mile Long Beach Marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon and the ever-popular Bike Tour, which allows cycling enthusiasts to experience the excitement of the marathon on closed roads without the running, and offers commemorative event shirts, finisher medals, free beer and more.

To further commemorate the marathon's 40th anniversary, Long Beach Airport will participate in various marathon-related activities and engage with participants and spectators throughout the event. The celebration will not only honor the marathon's rich history, but also look forward to its future as the running industry's premier event.
