“Despite the inclement weather, it was a great day,” said Turner, who is also Windsor Forest's athletic director. “I saw some great football, such as the play that (Edson) Escobar made as a starter in the boys' tournament. We won every game by either a goal or a draw. Overall it was balanced and we had chances.” So that all of these players can come together one last time and play against each other in front of their friends and family. ”
Benedict College sophomore Ben Weisel was recently named Region 3-4A Goaltender of the Year. He said playing in the event was a great experience.
“There are a lot of great players here, so the competition is very intense,” Weisel said. “And a lot of us know each other from playing club and high school soccer since we were kids. It gives us a chance to meet new guys and get to know each other. It was a fun event to be a part of. ”
In the girls' competition, Glynn Academy's Capers Child was named MVP after taking a corner kick before the rain set in. In the men's tournament, Ashton Bowen scored a goal in the final game to secure the title for the Blue team and the junior took home the men's MVP trophy.
