Amad was sent off after a last-minute win against Liverpool for celebrating off the top for saving a free-kick.
Bruno Fernandes says Amad has been “rewarded” for “doing the right thing” and has urged football lawmakers to adjust rules to avoid future warnings for players celebrating off the top. I asked for it.
“We have to enjoy this moment and I think that's one of the rules that football has to change,” he added. Of course, we should be able to respect the other clubs, celebrate goals and enjoy the moment.”
Manchester United are currently in the semi-finals, which will be played on the weekend of April 20th, but Fernandes is hoping to go a step further than last season, when they lost to Manchester City in the final.
Erik ten Hag's side will be the clear favorites to beat Coventry, but Fernandes insists United will not overlook their opponents.
“The reaction was the same as when we drew with Liverpool, because our goal is to get to the final,” added the 29-year-old. “We have a lot of respect for all the teams we play, so we have nothing to celebrate so far.
“It was clear from the draw that we were playing a Championship team, not a Premier League team, but Wolves played them.
“So we don't want to compare ourselves to Wolves but you have to respect every team that comes here because I remember two seasons ago we played at home against Middlesbrough.
“We have to respect them, give them the respect they deserve and give our best performance with the same mentality as we did against Liverpool.”
