ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – There's a new leader in town for the Deerfield Windsor Knights women's basketball team. After back-to-back state championships, big changes are in store.
Brad Piazza was introduced to his parents Wednesday as the leader of the Lady Knights. It will be a difficult task for the six-time GISA Coach of the Year. Today's message was patience.
“They've had the success they've had, but it's not going to come right away, it's going to be something we have to build on. To all my team, I want to be fast. I like to get up and down the floor and run with the ball when I have the opportunity. I like to be physical on defense, and when I don't have a transition game, I like to be physical. We have to run a good offense and attack and get buckets and take what the defense gives us.” Piazza said.
He concluded the introductory meeting by encouraging parents to trust his process. And he reassured them that his goal was to bring out the best in the girls.
Piazza has had an illustrious career spanning more than 20 years. He has racked up over 350 wins. He led his past teams to the Final Four twice and to the state championship once.
Deerfield enters the 24-25 season looking for its third straight regional championship.
