Spalding — For North Central University senior Gracie Kreikamp, the day she signed her letter of intent to attend Gozibic Community College for basketball and volleyball was a life-changing day.
Kleikamp plans to begin classes this fall and pursue a career in the nursing field.
“I really enjoy helping others.” Kreikamp said. “It’s also nice to be a part of helping people in the recovery process and just be there for them.”
Gracie chose GCC because after touring the campus, it felt like home. “I had several offers, but this felt like the right one for me.” Kreikamp said.
Kleikamp always had a love for the game of basketball, but developed a passion for volleyball late in her high school career. She admitted that she regrets starting her high school volleyball career late.
However, thanks to her competitive nature, Kleikamp plays the sport at the collegiate level.
“She decided to join the team during her junior season.” Jets volleyball coach Rick Mick said. “It's been amazing to see her develop into such a player in just two short years. I'm really looking forward to seeing what she does.”
Kreikamp is coming off a basketball season in which he averaged 13.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She was a team captain for the Jets and was named second team all-conference in the Skyline Central Conference.
“This is something Gracie has worked hard at.” Jets basketball coach Brooke Granquist said. “It's been rewarding to see all of her hard work come to fruition and to have the opportunity to see her move on to the next level. I'm so happy for her.”
