Test Cricket: Australia missed the chance to play the first Test against New Zealand but are seven wickets away from victory after the third day.
The Kiwis resume with 3 wins and 111 losses, but still need an unlikely 259 points to win with Rachin Ravindra unbeaten on 56 points and Darryl Mitchell on 12 points.
The Test ended when Australia resumed at 2-13 with a lead of 217 at the start of the third day.

However, inspired by part-time spinner Glenn Phillips' five-wicket haul, New Zealand defeated Australia for 164, sparking hopes of a complete comeback in Wellington.
“We've had three quality days but the best day will be tomorrow,” Haddin told Fox Cricket.
“This Test match is in the balance. If Mitchell and Ravindra can do what they did on the second day with Australia in last place, suddenly this match will become very lively.”
Haddin said Australia still had the upper hand, but the fight between Ravindra and Mitchell gave New Zealand hope.
“Australia will be very happy with where they are. They still have a lead of 258 runs. They need to get seven wickets,” he said.
“And this surface still has a lot to offer both the fast bowlers and Nathan Ryan. I think Australia are happy with where they are now, but New Zealand have a fighting chance.”
Nathan Ryan, who took the wickets of Kane Williamson and Tom Latham on the third day, praised the efforts of Ravindra and Mitchell.
“I thought Lachin played very well last session and so did Darryl. I thought their plan was pretty clear,” he said.
