Georgia head coach Kirby Smart spoke to the media on Tuesday and shared his thoughts and impressions about the Georgia Bulldogs' first scrimmage of 2024.
The Georgia State football team, ranked No. 1 in the preseason rankings, is in the midst of spring practice. They have completed nine of the 15 scheduled practices and have just one scrimmage left before the G-Day game against the Reds and Whites on April 13th.
Head coach Kirby Smart met with the media Tuesday afternoon.
at the first scrimmage:
Well, I think the first scrimmage had a really good energy level and intensity. It wasn't lethargic and huffy, the players had goodwill and energy. We have a lot of work to do, we're really sloppy in terms of substitutions and signals, we have a lot of new people in the organization, new coaches, new players, we have a lot of new players. It wasn't as pretty as the first scrimmage.
on D line
I thought they did a really good job with energy and enthusiasm. We probably didn't have as good a run as I would have liked. The performance from the defensive line was much more dominant than on Saturday.
Thoughts on Gunner Stockton:
Gunner did a good job, you could see Gunner's growth. I thought he made some mistakes, but he also played more consistently. I have seen this progress for Gunner. He continues to improve and get a feel for our system. He's a really good athlete. He makes mistakes that you can't make in that position, but the good thing is that even after the mistakes he remembers what he saw.
Ryan Puglisi injury update:
Ryan Puglisi has been struggling with a knee injury that has plagued him since high school, but he can still throw.we expect him to come back
