Denver – University of Denver hockey team Kent Anderson He was named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Men's At-Large Second Team in recognition of his performance on and off the ice during the 2023-24 season.
Anderson was previously selected to the CSC All-District at Large Team and was one of 47 Division I student-athletes and a member of 14 first teams to earn All-America honors from the organization.
The sophomore defenseman appeared in 41 of 44 games during the Pioneers' 2023-24 national championship season, posting career highs with three goals, five assists and eight points. Anderson was a two-time AHCA National All-American Scholar, a member of the NCHC Academic All-Conference team, an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and the recipient of the Dr. Art Mason Most Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award as Denver Hockey's recipient of the year.
The finance major earned the 2024 NCAA Elite 90 Award at this year's Frozen Four after earning a 3.975 cumulative grade point average, the highest among all players at the championships.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America award, a student-athlete must have been selected to the All-District team, be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. Nominated student-athletes must also have participated in at least 90 percent of their team's matches or started in 66 percent of the matches this past season.
Each school is limited to six candidates each for its men's and women's regional academic representative teams, which include athletes from the NCAA men's sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Anderson, along with the skiers, is one of three Denver natives named Academic All-Americans on CSC's At-Large team. Florian Knopf(First Team) Andreas Kirckeng (Third team). Nora Brand (First Team) of the DU Ski Team was named to the Women's Academic All-America At-Large Team on Tuesday.
