“For me, the first thing that comes to mind is that Hawaii will always support themselves, right? They will always do what is right and do something based on charity that supports the people of Maui I think, first and foremost, that's enough for most people,” Salas told KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello. “But now you and I both know that we are probably the most passionate fan base.
“It's the people of Hawaii and the popularity of football and fantasy football. And I think it's a perfect marriage. And for Hawaii, which is often overlooked when it comes to national and global recognition, we want to be a part of that.” I think it means a lot to everyone involved to win and have them donate their time and money to support a local cause.”
In 2023, Salas' company, Wild Child Gym, in Culver City, Calif., raised $26,000 for the Maui effort.
More than 3,330 people attended the 2023 Scott Fish Bowl. In 2024, that number is expected to exceed 4,000.
The 2024 Scott Fish Bowl and Fantasy Draft is scheduled for July 13th at Maui Brewing Company in Waikiki. For more information on how to donate items for auction, please contact SFB14hawaii@gmail.com.
