Golf's First Round Leader (FRL) bet is one of the most expensive bets in all of gambling.
While some people wait six months to cash in their +300 ticket to the Golden State Warriors winning the NBA Championship, FRL bettors have to endure about 10 hours before cashing in their triple-digit tickets.
It may not be every day that a longshot wins a golf tournament, but it's not all that unusual for them to come out on top after just 18 holes, even at Augusta National.
There is no right or wrong way to bet FRL.
Since this is a random exercise and the aim is to have fun and work up a good sweat, it is better to bet a small amount and accept the high upside of this bet, rather than paying a large lump sum .
Here are some players worth supporting in the FRL market.
2023 Masters 1st Round Leader Prediction and Nomination
Justin Rose (+5000, BetMGM)
This is very simple.
Rose has earned four FRL tickets at Augusta in his career and continues to play solid golf in the resurgent 2023 season.
Don't overthink this.
Siu Kim (+6000, FanDuel)
Si Woo Kim, who is active in all formats and markets, seems to be at a turning point in his career.
The Korean player always had a good chance of winning the tournament, but he also had the potential for a serious blowout as matches could be abandoned without warning.
Kim seems to be in steady hands these days, as he is one spot away from qualifying for 2023.
Kim has already won this year, cracked the top 25, and ranks 22nd in average first-round points for the 2022-23 PGA Tour season.
Tom Hoge (+6600, BetMGM)
Hoge has only been to one Masters Tournament, but that shouldn't deter you from rooting for him in some way this weekend.
The Fargo, North Dakota, native found his footing on the PGA Tour last year and checked into Augusta in decent shape.
Hoge finished T14 at Genesis, missed the cut at Arnold Palmer, but bounced back with a T3 at The Players, his final full appearance.
Hoge ranks 24th on the PGA Tour in first-round scoring average this season, and that number would have been higher if not for the ugly numbers in API and THE PLAYERS.
Russell Henry (+10000, FanDuel)
2023 has been up and down for Henry, but he had his best performance of the year in his final start at T19 at The Players.
And while that hasn't reflected this season, Henry was one of the hottest starters on the PGA Tour in 2021-22. Last season, only Rory McIlroy, Cam Smith and Joaquin Niemann had a better first-round scoring average than Henry.
Henry has only competed in the Masters once since 2018, but he has had decent course performance here with two top-15 finishes.

Cameron Champ (+10000, BetMGM)
Champ has had his ups and downs, just like the ups and downs on the PGA Tour, but the 27-year-old showed a knack for driving the ball around at Augusta National.
Champ has finished T26 or worse in three Masters starts and has a T10 finish in 2022.
Champ may not have the all-around consistency to win this tournament, but given his length off the tee, he has a good chance of making some noise on Thursday.
