Australian cricketer Josie Dooley was medically evacuated from Hawaii and is being treated in a Brisbane hospital after suffering a stroke while on holiday and spending 30 days in hospital.
Dooley, 24, who plays for the WBBL's Melbourne Renegades and South Australian Cricket, required emergency neurosurgical treatment in the United States before being cleared to return home.
The South Australian Cricket Association released a statement on Monday outlining Ms Dooley's situation and confirmed she was still receiving treatment.
“On April 15, Josie was in Kauai, Hawaii, when she suffered a stroke due to hydrocephalus and had to be airlifted to Honolulu for emergency neurosurgical treatment,” the statement said. .
“After surgery, Josie spent 18 days in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu and then proceeded to the Neurosurgery Unit, where she stayed for an additional 12 days.
“Once Josie was fit to fly, she was medically evacuated to her hometown of Brisbane where she was readmitted to hospital.
“Josie is making good progress in her recovery and would like to thank her family, friends and teammates for their love and support during this difficult time.”

Dooley played 11 domestic one-day matches for South Australia last year, scoring 285 points. She also played in all 14 games for the Renegades in the WBBL.
