Former Tennessee basketball forward Jonas Aidoo has committed to Arkansas, according to a Monday report from CBS Sports' Matt Norlander.
Aidoo entered the portal on April 11 to enter the NBA Draft. He maintained his college eligibility while going through the draft process.
Aidoo had an All-SEC season as a junior. The 6-foot-11 Aidoo averaged 11.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He had six double-doubles in conference games. He had 66 blocked shots, ranking third in the SEC.
The 2024-25 SEC schedule has not yet been announced, but it is likely that the University of Arkansas and the University of Tennessee will play each other, although this is not certain due to the addition of two new teams to the league.
Rick Barnes surprised by Jonas Aidoo's transfer
Vols coach Rick Barnes is trying not to be surprised by the transfer portal decision. Aidoo's words came as a surprise to the Vols, based on the messages they received from him after the season.
“Yes, because he told everyone he was fine,” Burns said.
Aidoo was one of four Vols to enter the transfer portal after the season. Redshirt freshman guard Freddie Dilione V was first, followed by fellow redshirt freshman guard DJ Jefferson. In third place was forward Tobe Awaka, and in fourth place was Aidoo.
Jonas Aidoo was an All-SEC player for Tennessee basketball.
Aidoo averaged 7.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game in three seasons at Tennessee.

The Durham, North Carolina, native broke into the starting lineup as a junior. His first two years were spent as a role player behind veterans such as Olivier Nkamua and Uros Plavsic. He played 18.3 minutes per game as a sophomore and showed defensive talent that season.
Aidoo's freshman season got off to a slow start as he battled an illness before the season. He joined the playing group after Nkamua suffered a season-ending injury in February 2022. He played 7.8 minutes per game in 19 games as a freshman.
