Thanks to an intern's efforts, someone can win a football autographed by former Buffalo Bills' Jim Kelly at a fundraiser for the Mental Health Association of Chautauqua County.
The basket giveaway event begins today at 4 p.m. at the Brocton American Veterans Association, 110 Main Street, Brocton. The event will feature more than 35 of his baskets, prizes and gift cards donated by local businesses and his MHA supporters. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
A $20 donation gives you one chance to win a football. Winners do not need to attend.
Donations can be sent in advance through MHA's Venmo (@mha-in-chq) until Thursday. Cash and checks are accepted at MHA's Jamestown Center, 31 Water St.
The soccer draw will be live streamed on MHA's Facebook page and the names of the winners will be posted after the draw.
All proceeds will go directly to support recovery, health, and harm reduction services at MHA throughout Chautauqua County.
Resources for Chautauqua County's mental health and substance use supports, including naloxone (NARCAN) training, will be at the event from 4 to 8 p.m.
To donate a giveaway item or for more information, contact event organizer Jena Vacanti at 716-467-3294 or Raffle@MHAChautauqua.org.
Vacanti is interning at MHA through the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program at Jamestown Community College. She knew that MHA was experiencing funding cuts and that her work was dependent on grants, contracts, and donations, so she started her own fundraiser and made it her essential project. . Vacanti is a student of her Sarah Tranum, JCC Professor/OTA Director and MHA Board Chair.
