A year ago, fast bowler Yash Dayal fell ill after being criticized online for hitting Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh for five sixes in an over. A year after that day when Dayal used to play for Gujarat Titans, the right-handed pacer bounced back in the tournament, albeit in a different jersey.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Dayal (2/43) bowled the final over of the crucial IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, scoring 201 for CSK. I strained my nerves to prevent myself from reaching the run mark. RCB would have been excluded from the tournament.

After the match, Link came up with a warm Instagram story that was almost a virtual hug from the KKR batsman to Dayal.
Link tagged Dayal in the story and wrote, “God's plan, baby.”
Chasing RCB's commendable 218 for 5, CSK could only manage 191 for 7 to win by 27 runs.
But that's not all. CSK should have reached 201 and still could have made it to the playoffs. But Dayal had other plans for the five-time champion.
The win took RCB to 14 points, the same as CSK, but the Bangalore side jumped ahead of CSK in the net run rate column and took fourth place.
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, who topped Bangalore's batting lineup with 54 hits from 39 balls, praised Dayal's performance and said, “I would like to dedicate my 'Player of the Match' award to Yash Dayal. He has a heart of gold.''
