The Indian River High School boys volleyball team snapped a losing streak at four with a 3-1 win over visiting Henlopen Conference rival Dover on Tuesday, May 7th.
The Indians earned their first win since April 24 against Delmarva Christian, winning the first, third, and fourth sets by scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-21, respectively. They improved to 7-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play after sweeping the two-game season series against Dover.
The Senators, who fell to 4-10 overall and 2-7 in conference action, won the second set 26-24.
MOT Charter 3, Indian River 1
The Indians suffered their fourth consecutive loss at the MOT Charter on Friday, May 3rd.
The host Mustangs won the first, third, and fourth sets by scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-22, respectively, improving their overall record to 10-3.
The Indians won the second set 25-10, but fell to 6-6 overall.
Cape Henlopen 3, Indian River 1
The Indians withdrew their third straight verdict on visiting Cape Henlopen on Wednesday, May 1st.
The Vikings, the defending DIAA state champions, are 10-1 overall and in conference play after winning the first, third and fourth sets by scores of 26-24, 25-13 and 25-19, respectively. He improved his record to 7 wins and 0 losses.
Sophomore setter Zach Hahn had 17 assists and eight goals, and junior defensive specialist Saul Lopez added 14 goals and seven assists. Sophomore right-side hitter Amor Townsend had 10 goals and seven kills, and junior outside hitter Luigi Dottori added eight assists and six kills.
The Indians won the second set 25-23, but fell to 6-5 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
