BLOOMINGTON โ Indiana University basketball guard Trey Galloway will have to wait a little longer to run on the court with many of his new teammates.
The Hoosiers begin summer training on June 3, but Galloway will remain sidelined as he recovers from knee surgery.
Galloway injured his knee during practice before the team's regular-season finale against Michigan State. He tried to play through the injury and was wearing a knee brace for the first time, but left the game 11 minutes, 54 seconds into the first half and did not return.
He missed both of IU's games in the Big Ten Tournament.

“He's undergoing rehabilitation,” Indiana University basketball coach Mike Woodson said Wednesday at Hoover's Orchard and Wine ahead of the NIL event. “He's not ready to be on the court yet. We're hopeful and we believe he'll be back when the season starts.”
Galloway and longtime teammate Anthony Leal were the first two players to announce they would be returning to Indiana for the 2024-25 season. They made the announcement while addressing the crowd at Assembly Hall on Senior Day.
“These past four years have been the best years of my life. I wouldn't trade it for anything, but I don't think it's time to end it yet,” Galloway said. “I'll be back next year to play in front of the best fans in the country, the best venue in Assembly Hall and the best coach in the country. I'll be back next year. Let's do it.”
Woodson is hopeful that Indiana's signings of Myles Rice (Washington State), Canaan Carlisle (Stanford) and Luke Goode (Illinois) in the backcourt will allow Galloway to play in his more natural position without the ball.

“We had to make Gallo the point guard,” Woodson said Wednesday. “Gallo has done a great job for us. He's grown in terms of trying to handle the ball and making plays for his teammates, not just for himself.”
Galloway averaged 10.8 points and a career-high 4.8 assists in 34.2 minutes (30 starts) per game. His improved playmaking helped the Hoosiers win their final four regular season games, including two in which he recorded double-digit assists.
