Bradenton, Florida (May 2, 2024) – IMG Academy, a global leader in sports education, today announced the promotion of Kyle Brey to Director of Football and Mike Gillian to Director of Basketball, effective immediately. Bray has been the head varsity football coach since 2019 and is trying to lead IMG Academy to its first SSIA state championship. Jillian has been a valued member of the IMG Academy Basketball program since 2019, serving in various positions including Director of Technical Training and Head of Boys Basketball.

Kyle Bray
Prior to joining IMG Academy in 2019, Bray served as the head football coach at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he led the football program to unprecedented heights, making back-to-back NCHSAA playoff appearances and winning the first-ever conference. I won. Won the school's all-time championship in 2018.
Bray held several collegiate athletics positions before coaching at the high school level. At the University of Notre Dame, he demonstrated expertise in event management and competition operations, where he served as director of the Olympic Facilities Program. Prior to that, he worked closely with notable coaches Urban Meyer, Bo Pelini, and Charlie Weiss in quality control coaching.
A former standout student-athlete himself, Brey was a four-year letterman as a tight end and fullback at the University at Buffalo, where he played a key role in the team's 2008 Mid-American Conference Championship win.
In his new role as director of football for IMG Academy, Bray will oversee the operations of the football program and the development and experience of student-athletes.
mike gillian
Prior to joining IMG Academy in 2019, he was an assistant coach at Florida International University and led live commentary for several high-profile college and high school games for several media outlets. Gillian's coaching career also included his 10-year tenure at Longwood University, where he still holds the Division I record for most wins in program history.
During her six seasons at George Mason University, Jillian played a key role in leading her team to multiple NCAA Tournaments, an NIT appearance, and several CAA titles. His recruiting acumen helped assemble members of his 2003 class that propelled the Patriots to his NCAA Final Four in 2006.
Jillian enjoyed success at Bowling Green University, contributing to a MAC Championship win and a postseason NIT appearance. Specifically, he coached former NBA first-round draft pick Antonio Daniels at Bowling Green. Gillian also has experience in the Division II ranks, playing a key role in the success of his college's basketball program as an American International. Over six years, he helped lead the team to his 120th win and multiple appearances in the DII NCAA Tournament.
In her new role as director of basketball at IMG Academy, Jillian will oversee the operations of the basketball program and the development and experience of student-athletes.
