The 2023-24 ice hockey season officially concluded on Saturday with three state championship games played at USA Arena in Plymouth.
The first of the three games was Division 2, a battle of the top two between Trenton and Byron Center. This was Trenton's second trip to the state finals in three years and the team was seeking its 15th title and the first in 10 years in program history.
Unfortunately for the local Trojans, a wild second period proved to be a make or break for Byron Center. Four goals from midfield led the top-ranked Bulldogs to a 6-1 victory and the first state title in program history.
