The Coventry Blades have announced the signing of Canadian forward Brandon Alderson.
The 32-year-old joins Coventry after spending last season with the Blades' elite league rivals Cardiff Devils.
Alderson, a 6-foot-4 forward, has established himself as a powerful, physical player, recording 42 points (24 goals, 18 assists) in 61 games in the elite league.
“Brandon is a passionate player who plays hard. He uses his wits to create space for himself and others and proved last season that he is one of the best shooters in the EIHL,” Blades head coach Kevin Moore said.
“Brandon truly embodies our identity as a player and leader and we are excited to have him join our team.”
Before moving to the elite league, Alderson enjoyed success in several prestigious European leagues in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria.
In his first season abroad in 2017/18, he was Heilbronn Falken's leading scorer in DEL2 with 61 points (29 goals, 32 assists) in 59 games.
Prior to his European career, Alderson played four years in the AHL and ECHL, most notably with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the primary development team for the National Hockey League's (NHL) Philadelphia Flyers.
Before turning professional, the Oakville native was a talented scorer in the Ontario Junior Hockey League's major leagues, recording 157 points (69 goals, 88 assists) in 267 regular season games.
