The Nebraska volleyball team will play its 2024 spring game against Denver on Saturday, May 4th at the UNK Health and Sports Center in Kearney, Nebraska. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., with doors opening 90 minutes before first service. The Huskers will hold an autograph session after the game. The approximately 5,000 tickets for the game sold out in 46 minutes.
The return to Kearney continues Nebraska's tradition of touring the state for spring volleyball games. Since 2007, Nebraska has played spring games in North Platte, Scottsbluff, Grand Island, Norfolk, Wayne, Ogallala, Kearney and McCook.
Nebraska didn't have any seniors on its fall roster, but there are still changes to the team we see today.
Nebraska has two enrolled freshmen who enrolled in January and played during the beach volleyball season. Skyler Pierce is a 6-2 outside hitter from Lenexa, Kansas, and Olivia Mauch is a 5-6 libero from Bennington, Nebraska.
I'm looking forward to seeing Lindsey Krause on the court. She missed most of her fall season due to injury. Her serve-receive pass and her hitting are important factors for the Huskers.
Outside hitter Harper Murray will not play against Denver after receiving some disciplinary action. Also missing are Allie Battenhorst, who is headed to the University of Southern California, and Hayden Kubic, who is headed to the University of Tennessee. Taylor Landfair, who transferred to Nebraska from Minnesota, is not yet in uniform. Since the spring season is the “off” season for volleyball as a fall sport, these transitions lead to creative and flexible lineups. Pierce and Kraus will fill the outside hitter roles against Denver.
Bergen Riley had a great freshman season as Nebraska's starting setter. She plans to follow up that season with her refined changes and improved leadership both on and off the court. I look forward to seeing more diverse sets from her, and more attacks from Bergen herself.

What do we know about Denver? Denver is in the Summit League and finished with a 14-12 record last season. They are led by outside hitter Kathy Davey and setter Briley Decker. The head coach is Megan Pendergast. This is his second season as Denver's head coach. During his playing days, he spent two years at the University of Nebraska (2009-2010) before transferring to Texas A&M. Pendergast is from Texas.
Are you going to the game? Are you watching from home? GBR wherever you are!
