Lowell, Massachusetts – Massachusetts Lowell Senior Goaltender henry welsh (Lakeville, Minn.) announced his intention to return to the Riverhawk hockey program for a fifth year.
“I'm very excited about next year's team,” Welsh said. “Especially when you look at the list along with who's coming back and the incoming class. I feel like returning to Lowell gives me the best opportunity to be an NHL player.”
Last season, Welsh appeared in 22 games for the River Hawks, posting a 2.45 points per game and .907 save percentage. His .913 save percentage against conference opponents was tied for fourth in the Hockey East, and his 2.34 goals against average ranked in the top five in the conference. He also made a career-high 46 saves in a 1-0 shutout at UW on October 28, helping him win the first of two Hockey East Weekly Goaltender Awards that year.
Welsh is very disciplined on the ice as he completed his work towards a mechanical engineering degree in April of this year.
“I'm very happy to announce that Henry will be back next year,” the head coach said. Noam Bazin. “He's a very impactful player. He had an unfortunate injury this year that forced him to miss a productive month. This addition is an important piece to complement a strong incoming class. We are once again a national team player. I’m looking forward to competing in the tournament.”
