Conway, Arkansas- Hendrix University has announced Wes Sullivan as the next women's basketball head coach for the Hendrix Warriors.
Hendrix College has announced the appointment of Wes Sullivan as the new head women's basketball coach. Sullivan comes to Hendricks after spending the 2021-22 season as head men's basketball coach at Arkansas Baptist University. Sullivan was tasked with helping the Buffaloes transition from the NJCAA to the NAIA.
Prior to joining Arkansas Baptist, Sullivan served as the men's head coach at cross-town rival Central Baptist University from 2013 to 2017. Sullivan took over a struggling Mustangs team one week before the start of the school year and led the school to victory in his final season with a then-program record 23 wins, including the NCCAA Central Regional Championship and a No. 10 national ranking. lead. Sullivan coached three all-conference selections and his NAIA All-America Honorable Mention. Sullivan ranks fourth on the program's all-time wins list.
Before coming to Central Baptist University, Sullivan spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Hendricks College. In his only season with the Warriors, Sullivan coached the Southern Athletic Association's Newcomer of the Year award, was named All-SAA First Team and was named honorable mention.
From 2008 to 2012, Sullivan served as Director of Coaching for the Team Arkansas Elite women's basketball program. Under his direction, the Arkansas Elite won the AAU State Championship 14 times, appeared in the National AAU Final Four seven times, and won the AAU National Championship once.
Sullivan served as an assistant baseball coach for three seasons at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway in the late 1990s before retiring. He played his one year of baseball at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, then transferred to UCA and was an All-Collegiate Athletic Conference player in 1993.
Sullivan, a Little Rock native, graduated from JA Fair High School in 1989, where he excelled in four sports.
Sullivan currently lives in North Little Rock, Arkansas with his wife Jennifer and they have three daughters, Julia, Riley, and Clara, a junior on the Warrior soccer team.
