The Jacksonville Gamecocks have agreed to a contract extension with head coach Rich Rodriguez through the 2030 season.
Rodriguez was hired in 2021 and after posting a 9-2 record in 2022, his last game at the FCS level, the Gamecocks advanced to the FBS level in Conference USA and ultimately won the New Orleans Bowl. He finished with 9 wins and 4 losses, including a win at .
“I couldn't be more excited for Coach Rodriguez's commitment to Jacksonville State University and to continue leading our football program into this new era,” said Director of Athletics. Greg Seitz said. “The growth of our program since the day he took over has been incredible, winning a conference title in his first year and winning a bowl for the first time in transition team history in his second year.”

Entering 2024, Jacks State brought in former Collegiate starter Zion Turner to replace quarterback Zion Webb. The same quick attacking style that was in place last year should be here to stay again this season, especially with Turner's own skill set.
In addition to Rodriguez's success on the field, he has played a key role in improving the area around the facility and providing the best equipment and working environment for our players.
The Gumcocks still have one transition year left, but Jax State still won't be able to play a postseason game without being on waivers. If not enough teams qualify for a bowl game in 2024, there's a good chance Rich Rodriguez's team can reach the six-win mark and advance to a second consecutive bowl game. The Gamecocks also make him one of the top teams in Conference USA. Jax State went 6-2 in conference play last season.
