India head coach Rahul Dravid's contract expires in June this year and there will be no automatic extension, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief Jay Shah has confirmed. Shah acknowledged in a statement that Dravid will have to reapply if he wants to keep his job after his term ends at next month's T20 World Cup, while the new term will last for three years. He also admitted that. However, reports say that Dravid has no intention of extending his tenure as Team India's head coach beyond June.
Dravid was originally on a two-year contract but was given an extension along with his support staff after the 50-over World Cup in November last year.
“We will be inviting applications in the coming days. Rahul Dravid's tenure is coming to an end. If we need to continue, we will have to reapply. We are looking for a long-term coach for three years.” Shah told some media outlets. During an interaction at the BCCI office on Thursday.
According to a report in the Times of India, Dravid is reluctant to continue as the head coach of the Indian national team and is therefore unlikely to re-enter the head coaching race.

“There is no precedent in Indian cricket to have different coaches for different formats.Besides, we have a number of all-format players. Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, etc. “We have a lot of players,” he said. He said.
“Ultimately this is the call of the Cricket Advisory Committee. I have to implement their decision,” he added.
Shah said foreign coaches may also be considered depending on the CAC's recommendations.
“If the CAC selects a foreign coach, I cannot intervene,” he added.
The BCCI Secretary General informed that the vacancy for one national selection committee member is expected to be filled soon.
“Several interviews for selector posts have already been conducted. An announcement will be made soon,” he said.
Greg Barclay's role as International Cricket Council president ends later this year, but Shah was not keen to run for the position.
“Let me go here (BCCI). Forgive me for the speculation. But let me go here (BCCI). Am I not doing a good job?” he asked. .
