USA Sports' Level 4 gymnasts won the team title in the Great Pumpkin Caper and also swept the individual awards in the team's final regular season competition.
In the senior division (ages 10 and up), Luisa Mantilla of Gilroy had her best game of the season. She won all four of her events (vault 9.15, uneven bars 9.2, balance beam 9.05, floor exercise 9.25) and also won her individual all-around title (36.45).
Teammate Leah Hamilton (Hollister) finished with triple silver (8.75 bars, 8.30 floor, 34.15 all-around). She also placed third on beam (8.6). Fellow Hollister Kamryn Ilao placed second on vault (8.825 points), and Gilroy's Stacey Gaddis placed third on vault (8.70 points) and floor (8.225 points) in her first appearance.
In the middle age division (8-year-olds), Gilroy's Sloan Pace took first place on vault (9.15 points), second place on bars (9.2 points), floor (9.125 points), second place on individual all-around (36.30 points), and beam (8.825 points). ) and took 3rd place. . Teammate Simone Yamaoka (Hollister) placed third on floor (8.8 points).
In the youngest division (ages 8 and under), Gilroy's Sontae Stewart led the team by placing first on vault (8.975 points) and second on bars (8.95 points), floor (8.825 points) and floor (tied for 34.95 points). took the lead. USA Sports' Level 5 teams also performed well. Hollister's Courtney Grow placed second on floor (8.975) and third in the individual all-around (32.40). Teammates Katarina Ji and Felicia Markfield, both of Hollister, finished third. Ji took third place on beam (8.675 points) and floor (8.75 points), while Mark Field won bronze on floor (7.70 points).
Level 6 gymnasts also achieved top results and posed a threat to the competition. Hollister University's Taylor Lawrence won all four events and the individual all-around (vault 8.525, bars 9.2, beam 8.325, floor 8.5, air 34.55). Hollister teammate Marissa O'Prey placed second on vault (8.375) and third on bars (6.35), floor (8.175) and individual all-around (30.025).
Mantilla, Pace, Stewart and Yamaoka are among the USA Sports Level 4 gymnasts who will advance to the postseason and compete in the NorCal State Championships scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5 in Rancho Cordova. His score of 34.00 in the individual all-around at the USA Gymnastics sanctioned meet qualifies the gymnast for the state meet.
The club's Level 5 gymnasts, including Gilroy's Aubrey Kaho and Hollister's Kyrie Anderson and Sarah Dyck, will join teammates Grow, Ji and Markfield at the NorCal Zone Championships later this month. Lawrence, a Level 6 gymnast, also qualified for the NorCal Zone Championships.
To qualify for the zone championships, gymnasts must earn a score of 31.00 in the individual all-around. Level 5 and 6 gymnasts qualify for the state meet based on their lowest score and placement at the zone meet.
