In an unusual advisory issued by the state home department on Monday, government officials and employees were asked to “remain indoors”. “Considering the safety of the participants and organisers taking the oath, officials are advised to avoid public gatherings and take the anti-terrorism pledge strictly within their rooms/offices,” read the advisory on the observance of National Anti-Terrorism Day, the state government said.
On Tuesday, anti-terrorism pledges will be taken in all government agencies, the public sector and other public institutions. Anti-Terrorism Day is observed on May 21 every year and marks the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in Tamil Nadu in 1991.
