MARINA, Calif. (KION) – Megan Gonzalez and Teresa Havlick will represent Hartnell College at this year's 3C2A State Championships in beach volleyball.
The two had an overwhelming record on the beach, finishing the regular season with a total of 19 wins and 2 losses. Gonzalez and Havlik also won the Coast Conference title in the process. On Friday, Gonzalez and Havlik will head to West Valley College in Saratoga and look to carry that success into the tournament.
The beach volleyball program is in its second year and has already sent a pair to the championship in both seasons.
“To be successful again just solidifies the idea that we are a legitimate program and we are striving to make sure we achieve at a high level,” Gonzalez said.
Megan will be returning to the state for the second time in her career, while Teresa will be making her first trip.
“It's about being there and playing there,” Havlik said. “It’s great to show what junior college can really do and how high a level they can play.”
Pool play begins at 8 a.m. Friday.
