High school girls flag football gets chance to shine in finals nfl draft.

Ira Burns, Bishop Foley High School senior Madison Heightswas selected as one of the players.
Barnes participated in an experimental flag football league during his sophomore year.
“It was just Bishop Foley and Rochester School, but we ended up playing a game,” Burns said. “And we thought, “This is really fun and we're learning something. This could be a really big thing.''
The following year, the NFL and Lions came calling.
Both organizations have pledged support for the Spring 2023 Pilot League.
“They came and helped us with uniforms, flags, equipment, things like that,” Burns said.
The four teams that participated in the pilot program were ford field.
Next week, one player from each team will take to the NFL Draft stage to announce the Lions' first-round draft pick.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to bring new attention to the public eye and bring women's flag football to the forefront,” Burns said.
Meanwhile, girls' high school flag football is also rapidly growing. 24 schools will have participating teams in the 2024 spring season.
“People certainly care about us and want us to be in the game,” Burns said.
Ford Field will again host league games on May 11th and May 19th.
