Georgia State football wide receiver Dominique Lovett will be a key part of Georgia State's 2024 offense.
Georgia's offense was never great during the 2023 season, but it felt like the team had room to improve. The Bulldogs return some key starters from last season, including quarterback Carson Beck, but perhaps the biggest key to the offensive success in 2024 will be Georgia's wide receiver corps.
Former Missouri Tigers guard Dominic Lovett has elected to transfer to Georgia prior to the 2023 season. Lovett was a big playmaker for the Tigers during his time with the program and brings a variety of skill sets to Athens. He had a solid 2023 season at Georgia, recording 54 receptions, 613 yards and four touchdowns, but proved he's capable of so much more at Missouri.
He finished in the top 20 for receptions of 30+ yards and tied for the fifth-most receptions with 50+ yards in 2022. He also became just the fourth player in Missouri football program history to average at least 15 yards per reception with 50+ receptions since 1993. In his first season at Georgia, Lovett averaged 11.4 yards per reception, but he significantly improved on his 15.1 average in 2022 despite having two fewer receptions over those two seasons.
During Georgia's spring game, Lovett looked like the explosive playmaker he was at Missouri State. Not only was he racking up tons of yards on the catch, he was breaking free of defenders and making first man misses consistently. If that was just a preview of what we might see from Lovett in 2024, Georgia fans should have high hopes for the season he puts together this year.
