Florida State football will be without sophomore quarterback Brock Glenn and freshman Luke Kromenhoek for the remainder of the spring season due to a series of spring injuries.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell said both players are expected to recover by the start of summer practice, but will miss the remainder of the spring.
“They're dealing with minor, minor injuries, but it doesn't affect them at all, even in the summer,” Norvell said. “I thought I could get the block. [Glenn] He’ll be back this week, but it looks like he’ll be back next week.”
“Unfortunately, that's the schedule. Neither of us will be able to attend.”
After Thursday's practice, Coach Norvell announced that Glenn was limiting practice due to “non-football matters.”
Glenn and Kromenhook are two more players added to FSU's spring injury list, bringing the number of players who will miss the spring showcase up to seven.
On March 26, Norvell announced that redshirt junior defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, redshirt senior offensive tackle Robert Scott and freshman defensive back Jamari Howard would be out due to injury.
On April 5, Norvell announced that wide receiver Destin Hill and redshirt sophomore tight end Gerard Powers would miss the remainder of the spring season.
Trevor Jackson will be in charge as backup.
DJ Uiagalelei is the only healthy scholarship quarterback expected to participate in the Spring Showcase. That means FSU's three walk-ons will feature his quarterbacks, freshman Trevor Jackson, redshirt sophomore Dylan McNamara and redshirt freshman Michael Grant.
Of the three, it is Jackson, a true freshman, who has taken the most snaps next to Uiagalelei.
The 6-foot-3, 186-pound quarterback was a late addition to FSU's Class of 2024, making his decision official in mid-January.
Jackson was hesitant to throw the ball early on, but had great running ability and field navigation. Norvell said Jackson still has a lot to learn, but he has been very impressed with him early on.
“he [Jackson] “He's still learning a lot and a lot is being thrown at him, but I thought he's done good things. Of course this is a great opportunity for him to gain experience, work hard and get better.” “It's an opportunity,” Nobel said.
