The three-ball has probably become the staple of scoring in the NBA. So we thought we'd take a few shots from downtown as well. Here, fantasy basketball analyst Dan Titus breaks down three things about him that his fantasy managers should know. Or dive into multiple pieces of his three-point advice and analysis. It depends on how open he is with his From Deep.
Take advantage of one of Yahoo Fantasy's research toolsHere are the three players who appeared most frequently on Public League Top 500 teams during the 2023-2024 season.
Kawhi Leonard – SG/SF/PF – Los Angeles Clippers
Leonard has been one of the most frustrating players to have on fantasy rosters over the past few years, due to injuries and the dreaded term “load management.” Leonard had to rest to maintain his long-term health. That's 1000% true, but it significantly diminished his value in fantasy basketball. The 2023-2024 season will be no different, with Leonard starting in the third round of ADP in the preseason, but I remember seeing him in the fourth round in some leagues due to injury concerns.
And he played in 68 games this season, determined to provide first-round value. He participated in 19.6% of Yahoo's top public leagues this season, finishing in the top 10, in addition to being sixth in value per game in the nine-category format.
He was on the cusp of a 50/40/90 season, then was slowed down by injuries and was literally at the worst time for a fantasy manager. Still, if we're talking about an entire season's worth of production, Leonard has finally emerged as a fantasy manager.
As the Clippers prepare for a first-round game against the Mavericks, Leonard will have plenty of time to recover from a grueling season in which he played the most games since 2016-2017. Now, at 32 years old, it's time for fantasy managers to realize that he's two years removed from his ACL injury and is back to provide first-round value in fantasy basketball.
Donte DiVincenzo – SG/SF, New York Knicks
Big Ragù played in 29% of the top teams in the Yahoo League this season and won the overall championship. With an average draft position (ADP) well advanced to the 14th round and a draft rate of only 6%, DiVincenzo averaged 15.4 points per game and made 3.5 3-pointers on 40% batting average. He recorded the highest number of points of his career. clip.
He was also one of the best waiver pickups this year.
Those who drafted him in a highly competitive league likely left him out after an uninspiring early season, when he averaged just 10 points, three boards and two assists from October to December. But if they manage to land him in early 2024, they would be right to celebrate. That's because DiVincenzo really took off after that, averaging 18 points, four boards, and three assists over the next 46 games.
The 27-year-old is certainly in his prime, considering he benefited from the RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley trades and a spate of injuries that helped him make a huge jump in his first year as a Knick. This may have been Donte's peak.
The sixth-year professional started 60 of 78 games this season, which was significant. That's because his offensive and defensive production, along with availability, has propelled him to No. 31 in the league in nine categories heading into the final week of the regular season. On a game-by-game basis, he finished 60th, but most importantly, he was reliable and consistent as a fantasy manager through the final three months of the season.
Here are DiVincenzo's numbers during that time.
-
February: 37.5 MP / 21.7 PTS / 4.0 REB / 3.1 AST / 1.4 STL / 4.5 3PM
-
march: 37.3 MP / 19.2 PTS / 4.4 REB / 3.3 AST / 1.9 STL / 4.5 3PM
-
April: 36.4 MP / 21.8 PTS / 4.2 REB / 3.4 AST / 1.2 STL / 4.8 3PM
Heading into Thursday, he made the third-most threes in the league and also set a Knicks franchise record for threes in a game with 11. He undoubtedly helped the Knicks become a true contender in the East, and elevated fantasy basketball teams to top-tier status. It provides the best performance across all competitive formats.
Ayo Dosunmu – SG/SF, Chicago Bulls
Oh, yo (in Razor Ramon voice)! There are outliers in the top 10 of the MVP list. That's Dosunmu. The third-year pro is the only player in the top 10 of the Yahoo MVP list and ranks outside the top 120 in value per game in nine categories of the format. Despite this, Dosunmu is one of the few iron men on a Bulls team that can't seem to stay healthy. He never played fewer than 76 games in his first three seasons, which is amazing in an era of load management.
Considering season-ending injuries to Zach LaVine and Patrick Williams, as well as the oft-injured Alex Caruso, Dosunmu took advantage of the opportunity and jumped to 80th in total value this year with his production. . Considering he was undrafted in every league this year, finishing the season on 20% of Yahoo's best teams overall is pretty impressive. His 20% in head-to-head league play ranks sixth among players this season, and as mentioned previously, his production has helped his case.
Dosunmu started 37 games this season and set career bests in points, steals, blocks, free throw percentage and three-point percentage. His numbers improved as a starter, but he took a significant jump, especially after the All-Star break, as the increased playing time translated into points (16.8), assists (5.2), and usage rate (18%). Ta. He improved his form month by month and held out until the end, giving his manager the top 55 players in Fantasy Basketball for his final month of the season.
He has shown great growth this year, and given his efficiency on the field (50/40/81 shooting splits), he could be a late-season option for fantasy managers if the Bulls decide to make a move related to Zack in the offseason. Potential targets include LaVine, Patrick Williams, and Alex Caruso.
