“The tournament provides a great opportunity not only for our team to grow competitively, but also for coaches, players and families to foster camaraderie and a strong club culture,” said PCSC Technical Director Eli Ulvi. told Townlift. “Club leadership has allocated a significant amount of time to planning appropriate tournaments for all teams and ensuring that each event has multiple PCSC teams participating, allowing for the development of the aforementioned culture. We have had teams participate in events in beautiful Durango, Colorado, but this year is the first time we are hosting an event as a formal part of our tournament planning, with 8 teams participating, 6 advancing to the finals, and 4. The team won and the club had a great weekend.”
The GOAL (Go Out And Lead) initiative was introduced at the tournament. This is a program that encourages players to give back to their communities through volunteer work off the field.
This was an event sanctioned by U.S. Youth Soccer, and 30 clubs from all southwestern states participated. The 29th annual tournament is for ages 9-16 and is the national equivalent of the PCSC's annual Extreme Cup, which will be held again in July in Park City, Oakley and Heber.
This Colorado tournament effectively marks the end of the PCSC competitive year. The new year begins with his late May player placement, as seen on lawn signs placed throughout the city.
