Liverpool clinched the League Cup with a thrilling 1-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday, but fans still had time to butcher VAR after yet another ridiculous officiating.
The Reds were aiming for their first trophy of the season at Wembley and did so in unforgettable fashion, producing a performance that will live long in the memory.
Chelsea were probably lucky that Moises Caicedo wasn't sent off for his vicious tackle on Ryan Gravenbirch, which also didn't merit a foul on referee Chris Kavanagh.
Manager Virgil van Dijk then comically saw a goal conceded after what appeared to be a block by Wataru Endo in lead time, but the captain scored the winning goal late in extra time.
These Liverpool fans reacted to further VAR nonsense on social media.
VAR was not introduced to find reasons to disallow goals, but rather to target obvious mistakes.

This won't be the first time this season that we've tried to make rules to suit the agenda.
VAR is not fit for purpose.

Football isn't football anymore.

This has to be the most disgraceful VAR call ever made in England. And then there's the national finals.

I don't understand this game anymore. Grafenberg's foul and Van Dijk's goal are unbelievable. I don't see how VAR fits the purpose

A perfectly legitimate goal was taken away. These officials have never kicked a ball in their lives. ?

“I'm done trying to really understand the rules of football. They're all vague and never consistent.”

To be honest, soccer isn't soccer anymore. It's not fun, it's full of bad calls, unfair refereeing and VAR not being used properly. All I want to do is enjoy the soccer game! #LFC

It was okay to totally grab Van Dijk's shirt though, right?

If VAR can stick to the obvious, they might have a chance.
As in politics, those in power never back down. The more you tell them they're wrong, the more stubborn they become.

The problem with referees is that they know the rules, but they don't know the game.

On a long list of horrible VAR calls this season, this has to rank among the worst.
Blocking is something we see every week in football and if Van Dijk's goal is canceled out we will see it again and again every weekend.
Thankfully, Klopp and his heroes on the pitch did not allow themselves to be robbed and secured a hearty and impressive victory.
What a day!
