The Tennessee Titans have acquired Derrick Henry as their primary running back after eight seasons. Tony Pollard was brought in as a partial replacement yesterday, but the Titans are starting a new era under head coach Brian Callahan without Henry for the first time since 2016.
Henry has been a top-10 fantasy running back for the past five years barring injury and has proven to be surprisingly durable for a 30-year-old bruiser. Henry signed a two-year, $16 million contract with the Ravens, moving them beyond the traditional committee backfield.
The Ravens have already let Gus Edwards go, and JK Dobbins is an unsigned free agent, making it impossible for him to stay healthy. The Ravens offense changed last year with new OC Todd Monken, and Henry fits exactly what the Ravens offense needs.
fantasy football outlook
Henry may be almost 30 years old, but he's amazingly durable and stays fit by the standards. A future Hall of Famer and past 2,000-yard rusher, he lands in an offense with a top-three offensive line. This is a huge upgrade from Tennessee's bottom three O-line. And the new offense under Monk had 1,696 rushing yards (8th) and 20 rushing touchdowns (3rd) last year, despite being far less talented than Henry.
The Ravens offense also doesn't throw much to running backs, which has never been Henry's strength. He's exactly the guy the rest of the league doesn't want to see lining up behind Lamar Jackson.
