According to TMZ, former U.S. men's national team star Eric Wynalda has been named in a battery report stemming from an ugly soccer scandal involving a teenage boy.
According to a Las Vegas police report obtained by TMZ, while coaching her son's club team, Wynalda is accused of calling a player on the opposing team a “bitch” and also insulting his mother.
According to a report from TMZ, the boy told police that he pushed Wynalda and they got into a fight, which resulted in the scratches, but he did not know who hit him.
A parent called 911 and reported the incident.
Sources tell TMZ that the game deteriorated after Wynalda's son committed a hard foul that caused him to miss the remainder of the game.
A video from TMZ shows Winalda's son hitting the ball and falling to the ground.
According to TMZ, the opposing players then started using bad language towards Wynalda.
A second video of the incident was also released on Monday, showing Wynalda, wearing a black and white tracksuit and black cap, appearing to engage an opposing player wearing a red jersey.
The player then pointed at Winalda and walked up to him, seemingly saying something.
Winalda then looked towards the field and held out her hands, “What?” There was an exclamation when another player in a red jersey walked towards him with the same gesture and pushed the former USMNT star.
While the referee tried to defuse the situation, the former opponent walked backwards towards Winalda. A player who appeared to be from Winalda's team ran towards the player pushing him.
Players from both teams then started a skirmish, running in one direction, and the player who first engaged Wynalda in the video threw the ball at Wynalda's face.
A representative for Winalda declined to comment to TMZ.
The 54-year-old is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame and retired with a then-record 34 USMNT goals, according to his induction page.
He participated in the World Cup three times.
