– On a windy night in Carroll, the East Sac County Raider soccer team played the Carroll Tigers, with the Raider girls winning 7-0 and the Tiger boys winning 1-0 in 2OT/PKs.
– In the women’s game, the Raiders offense exploded in the first seven minutes of the game. The Raiders struck in the third minute of the game, and Kenna Meyer's goal gave the Raiders an early 1-0 lead. Less than 90 seconds later, Meyer added another point, giving the Raiders a 2-0 lead with 35:53 left in the first half. Chloe Bielette found the back of the net 2 minutes, 56 seconds later, increasing the Raider lead to 3-0 with 32 minutes, 57 seconds left. Both teams traded chances, but no one scored for the rest of the first half, with the Raiders leading 3-0 going into halftime. Hannah Pudenz scored her second goal of the season just 66 seconds into the game, giving the Raiders a 4-0 lead and setting the tone for the second half. Bielette then had a busy second half, scoring two goals (a hat trick) and assisting Meyer's goal (a hat trick for Meyer). The Raiders would go on to win 7-0.
With the win, the Raiders improved to 5-4 and the Tigers fell to 1-11. Raider stats: Meyer 3 goals, Biele 3 goals + 1 assist, Pudenz 1 goal, Melody Wrench and Denae his combination of Thayer shutout victory.
– In the boys game, the Raiders played 100 minutes full-time + penalties for the second straight game. In the first half, both the Raiders and Tigers were pushing hard, but neither team was able to break the flow of the game, and the first half ended with zero points. In the second half, both teams were again in a close game, with both teams having 80 minutes left in the game. The Raiders started the first overtime with the wind at their back and got a strong push but were unable to score. This sent the team into a second overtime with the team still at zero points. In the second overtime, the Tigers kicked the ball for too long, and both teams ended the 100-minute period of two halves and two overtimes with zero points. In this case, the teams will be sent to a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, the Raiders took the first shot. Isaiah Aragon was unable to convert the penalty kick, and Tiger keeper Tanner Hisof missed his shot high as the teams were tied 0-0 after the penalty shootout. Raider Brendyn Conn's second attempt was unsuccessful, but Jameson Polking found the back and the Tigers broke through, and the Tigers were up 1-0 at the end of the second round. In Game 3 for the Raiders, Riley Aragon found the back of the net and Elias Villanueva also scored to help the Tigers respond. After three rounds, the penalty score was 2-1 Tigers. In the fourth round, Landon Petersen found the back of the net and the Tigers won 3-1 after the fourth round, Luke Wright was denied by Hysoff before the Tigers won.
With this win, the Tigers improved to 3 wins and 7 losses (their losing streak ended at 5), and the Raiders improved to 3 wins and 3 losses.
