Hudson Grier, a self-confessed lifelong Duke basketball fan, has noticed increased interest from the Blue Devils recently, but has yet to report an offer from Durham, a rising talent in 2025. Hudson Grier, who is currently in the league, will be transferring to The Athletic's prep powerhouse Montverde Academy (Florida). Tobias Bass reported on Monday night.
Grier's rise to national attention from Lake Travis High School (Texas) at Montverde, where he went undefeated and just won a national championship, could bode well for his chances of attracting an offer from Duke. Not to mention the shot Duke tried to land on him.
After all, the Eagles have produced several five-star Blue Devils since 2018, including Darik Whitehead, RJ Barrett, and Sean Stewart, who were also central figures in Montverde's 33-0 season. It also produces the next Blue Devil genius, Cooper Flagg. Two of the Eagles who became the Blue Devils, Barrett in 2018 and Flagg this year, earned the No. 1 overall ranking under their names.
Hudson Grier doesn't seem to be a threat to the top spot in his class, but the most bouncy sharpshooter is being talked about as a 6-foot-7, 190-pounder who ranks 28th overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite Rankings. It's Wing.
The following scouting report excerpt provided by On3 reminds us of Grayson Allen, the 2015 Duke University basketball national champion and reigning NBA 3-point percentage leader.
“He's an explosive athlete with good straight-line bounce. He can get to the rim in the half court and throw in traffic. Grier is a smooth 3-point shooter with deep range. . He has a quick release and a great shot.'' Grier still needs to tighten up his balance, but he should be able to make a dribble or two and get into a mid-range position. ”

There is no doubt that Hudson Grier will compete for No. 1 ranking among his peers in terms of knowledge of Duke basketball and understanding of all things Blue Devils.
“I mean, I just grew up; [it was] You just see guys like Brandon Ingram and Jayson Tatum and of course Zion all the time. [Williamson]” Greer said recently. League ready when describing his early boost into Blue Devil fandom. “And then another guy I used to listen to his podcast, JJ Reddick, with Christian Letner, I saw them come out just shooting the ball — I heard his I loved the documentary…
“If I ever get a chance to go there, it would be a great opportunity.”
A move to Montverde would further boost his stock. But for now, if Grier earns an offer from Jon Scheyer, he would be the Blue Devils' lowest-tier target, as all nine on Duke's 2025 wish list are among the top-20 prospects in the cycle. It will be.
