Every day, police officers respond to all kinds of reports of events and non-events, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known, but no less noteworthy, cases from our community's police diary (aka blotter).
duckling takes a dip
On May 2nd, a duck led a flock of baby ducks into a swimming pool in the city. walpole. Animal control officer Brianna Williams escorted the duck out of the water because it wasn't the best place for the duck to swim. “No call is too small for ACO Williams (of Duck Whisperer) who helped safely remove this family of ducklings from the pool this morning,” police wrote on Facebook. “Good luck, Brianna!”
I'm not going to charge my phone
April 16th 1:22pm bridgewater police 911 call received A person who lived on Vernon Street reported a man came into their backyard and left. What is the purpose of his sudden visit? When police tracked the man down, he said he was in the backyard looking for a place to charge his ankle bracelet.
Amazon employees praise
On April 17th, an accident occurred in the city where a person was hit by a car. rutland The suspect then fled the scene. The hit-and-run was witnessed by Leslie Nydam, an Amazon delivery driver from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, who was dropping off a package when the drama unfolded. Nydam called 911 and began chasing the suspect's car. “Needless to say, Mr. Nydam is very fast!” police wrote on Facebook. “She was able to provide a ride by providing the vehicle's make, model, direction of travel, and partial license plate. As a result of her courageous actions, the suspicious vehicle was located. ” Mr. Nydam received a letter of commendation from the Rutland Police Department. Lt. Daniel Collinge said in his letter that Nydam displayed “extraordinary courage and quick thinking in the face of dangerous situations.” “Despite the widespread chaos, you acted quickly and selflessly,” Collinge wrote. “There is no doubt that your courage and calmness under pressure played a vital role in ultimately apprehending the suspect and ensuring the safety of those around you. …Your actions. is a shining example of how one person can positively impact a community.'' Rutland police also forwarded the letter to her employer.

At approximately 2:40 a.m. on April 29, state police received a call about a black Audi that had been flagged as stolen. follow. A short time later, a car was seen pulling into a parking lot in the neighboring town of Concord, and local police saw three people get out, get into a gray BMW and drive away. Shortly afterward, Officer Markely Frelisma saw a BMW pass the cruiser at a high rate of speed on Route 2 East. Frelisma tried to catch the BMW heading south on Interstate 95, but when he pressed the license plate, it came back not to the BMW but to a 2008 Honda Pilot SUV. Frerisma tried to stop the car, but the driver wouldn't stop. According to state police, the BMW struck a state police-deployed stop pole and also hit several traffic signs before finally coming to a stop in a median near Neponset Street in Canton. The three people on board fled into the forest.condition and norwood Police set up a perimeter around a forest line and an adjacent residential area, and State Police K9 Unit Officer Benjamin Shiok and his partner Yigo began searching for the three suspects. The dog followed the scent to a gazebo in the backyard on Ledgeview Drive, where it pressed its nose against the trim along the floor of the gazebo.When Shioku and Officer James Curtain pointed their flashlights at him, they saw a 33-year-old man. new bedford The man driving the BMW and a 50-year-old man fall river The man was hiding in a small space between the ground and the floor of the gazebo.State police say the third suspect is a 29-year-old man. providence The man was soon found by Ziggo “almost completely hidden” in the bushes in another backyard. As the dog approached, a rabbit jumped out of the bushes, but Gigo paid no attention to it. . The BMW was towed to the State Police barracks in Concord, where troopers found multiple tools, a crowbar and a black mask inside the vehicle. The three were each charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and possession of burglary tools. One of them is also charged with providing a false name to police, and the driver faces additional charges including failing to stop for police. Attach the plate. Operating under a suspended license.
