Five-time Grammy Award-winning Canadian rapper Drake has placed $250,000 on his “first ever cricket bet” on Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to win the final of IPL 2024. The Indian Premier League (IPL) was founded in 2008.
Drake bet $250,000 on KKR to beat SRH in the IPL 2024 final and won $425,000.
In a story shared on Instagram, Drake posted a screenshot of his bet on KKR, with odds of winning of 1.70. The 37-year-old also wrote the KKR motto, “Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo,” in the story's caption.
After the rapper bet $250,000, KKR won the match in Chennai on Sunday by eight wickets. Led by Shreyas Iyer, KKR won their third IPL title after 2012 and 2014.
KKR topped the points table in the group stage and then defeated SRH by eight wickets in Qualifier 1. SRH, the 2016 champions, finished second in the points table in the league stage.
After losing in the first qualifying round, SRH defeated Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifying round by 36 runs.
According to a betting slip posted by Drake, he won $425,000.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are the most successful IPL clubs in cricket, having won the title five times each. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler Virat Kohli holds the record for most runs with 8,004.

Additionally, Drake is known for making outrageous bets at online casinos and sports betting sites: In May 2023, he won over $17 million on a single spin of roulette. That same month, the rapper lost over $660,000 in bets on F1 and UFC.
He bet $1 million on Argentina winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup Finals in average time. During the match, Argentina was leading by two goals until about 10 minutes before the end of the game, when Mbappé scored two goals to tie the game and send the game into extra time.
As a result, Drake missed out on the $2.74 million prize money as Argentina failed to win after 90 minutes.
Argentina won the match in a penalty shootout.
In 2022, Drake also lost a $2 million bet he made on a UFC middleweight fight between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira.
Drake bet on Adesanya, but Adesanya lost by technical knockout to Pereira.
Additionally, he recently bet $1.15 million on the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 55 and won $2.34 million.
With his first cricket bet being a success, the rapper is likely to bet on the sport again in the future.
As of May 2024, Drake has an estimated net worth of around $250 million.
