The recent world record breaker appears to be taking a well-deserved break this morning. After her fireworks display at 400IM last night. summer mackintosh I opted out of this morning's 100 free swim. She is a 17 year old athlete who had already recorded world-class times in the 400m free and last night he had already recorded world-class times in the IM 400m, especially in the program that she still had 200m and he still had two left. When you think about it, you deserve a break. 200 fly and 200 IM.
McIntosh entered the event as the No. 1 seed, with an entry time of 53.90 seconds. The women's 100m free final in Paris was held on the same day as the women's 200m fly heats and semifinals, making it highly unlikely that McIntosh would swim that event individually. In her absence, McIntosh will have to rely on her track record to do so if she wants to swim the 100-meter freestyle on the relay.
McIntosh had a disappointing result in the Canadian women's 4×100 free in Fukuoka with a score of 54.99, but she anchored the bronze medal-winning medley relay with a score of 53.48 and was clearly faster.
McIntosh wasn't the only medal hopeful to skip the 100 free this morning. maggie mcneil I also chose not to appear behind the lane. McNeil entered the tournament as a tie for fifth seed with a seed time of 54.58 seconds. McNeil is a gold medalist in the 100m fly at the World Championships and the Olympics, while being a mainstay in the 4x100m free relay. She anchored the team that won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships (54.00 points), won a silver medal in Olympic swimming in 2021 with a second place (53.47 points), and was part of the team that won a silver medal in 2022. (53.27 points) and became the fastest split swimmer in 2023. On the team she finished 7th (53.07).
The absence of McIntosh and McNeil could be a sign of good sportsmanship. That's because the pair are clearly considering competing in the relay and may be trying to make room on the roster for swimmers who aren't yet on the team. Penny Oleksiak, taylor ruck, Sarah Fournierand Catherine Savardall of whom were part of the medal-winning relay.
mary sophie harvey (54.26 seconds) enters as the top seed, closely followed by Oleksiak and Luck, but the Olympic qualifying time is 53.61 seconds, so everyone competing is giving it their all.
The 100 free was not a sole scratch in the top 10, as there were dropouts in both the men's 200 back and women's 200 breast. behind, tristan yankovicThe third seed chose not to compete this morning. The OSU swimmer has already punched his ticket to Paris thanks to a big new record in the 400 IM. Janković's entry time was 1 minute 59.11 seconds, leaving him more than a second and a half ahead of OQT.
Also, to get out of the possibility of advancing to the A final, julie brusseau. The future Florida Gator was originally seeded as a No. 10 seed with an entry time of 2:30.79, but chose not to swim in this morning's 200 Breast Qualifier. Like Jankovic, Boursault qualified for the women's 4×200 free relay in the single stroke and has already been selected to the team.
