Colorado State's football season opener will be played two days earlier than originally scheduled.
CU announced Monday that its season opener against North Dakota State will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Folsom Field. Originally scheduled for August 31st, start time and television information will be announced at the end of May.
The game will be CU's first Thursday game since Hawaii on Sept. 3, 2015. Thursday's home game will be the first since Oct. 11, 2012 against Arizona State.
In its history, CU is 31-20-2 on Thursdays, with 45 of those games coming on Thanksgiving Day from 1891 to 1947. Since 1947, the Buffs have only played on Thursdays seven times.
Under head coach Deion Sanders, who is in his second season with the Buffs, CU is looking to improve on its 4-8 record from a year ago.
The matchup with NDSU will be the first meeting between the two schools. NDSU is one of the nation's top FCS programs, winning 17 national titles and 37 conference titles.
