Chhattisgarh Warriors batsman Jatin Saxena is enjoying his time in the ongoing Indian Veterans Premier League (IVPL) at the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida.
Jatin, who was picked by Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL, performed well in the IVPL, scoring 188 runs in five matches. The batsman is enjoying his stay with former Indian wicketkeeper Naman Ojha.
“It’s an honor just to share the opening partnership with players like my colleague Naman Ojha. “Playing with some of the best players in the team like World Cup winner Munaf Bhai is a huge honor for our team. Morale has increased,” Jatin said.
With a cricketing career spanning two decades, the 41-year-old is now determined to leave his mark on the IVPL while maintaining the fitness to last in the sport.
“There's nothing but the usual game. I've been playing in the first-class format for almost 20 years and I've learned it since I was a kid, so the same things are happening. The same things, like playing with concentration on every ball. It's about repeating things according to your strengths and strengths, avoiding weaknesses, etc.,'' Jatin said.
“You have to keep communication open, so basically we are lucky to be able to get some communication and be able to play on some platforms. Reflecting on his first experience in the IVPL, Jatin highlighted the privilege of sharing a dressing room with international players.
“It was great because it was my first experience. It’s been a while since I’ve been to the big leagues. I played in the IPL in 2018 and then played in a few overseas leagues, but this is a good platform for big players and international players to come together.
