The 12-week joint community cricket program, courtesy of the TT Sports Company (SporTT) and the TT Cricket Board (TTCB), will culminate at the Moruga Multipurpose Youth Sports Facility from 9.30am on May 19th.
The program involved over 140 boys and girls aged 7 to 15 from four communities: Malak, Moruga, Kumut and Tablelands.
In this grand finale, each participating community will form two teams to play a friendly match against each other. This event celebrates participants' efforts over the past 12 weeks and allows them to showcase their progress under the guidance of their coaches.
Participants received coaching sessions from highly qualified and experienced coaches.
Joining them will be former West Indies cricket legends Melissa Aguilera, Anisa Mohammed and Samuel Badree. They will be on hand to interact with children, share their knowledge and experience and inspire the next generation of cricket talent.
“We are extremely proud of this community program and the positive impact it has had on our young participants,” said Lindell Hoyte-Sanchez, SporTT’s Director of Community Sports. “We are committed to fostering the development of young athletes and providing them with the resources and guidance they need to excel.”
TTCB Chairman Azim Basaras said the program was a testament to their dedication to growing the sport of cricket at the grassroots level.
“We are excited to see the enthusiasm and talent of these young people and believe this program will play a role in identifying future cricket stars,” he said.
