Oklahoma State's offense is going to be special during the 2024 football season. Alan Bowman is in his seventh season playing college football, his second year with the Cowboys. Ollie Gordon was the nation's top running back a season ago. Bowman's wide receiver corps is incredibly versatile. But it means nothing if the offensive line doesn't win in the trenches.
Fortunately for the Cowboys, they have some peace of mind. The big men up front did a great job all season. They rarely allow the defense to get to Bowman, while also opening up gaps for Gordon to pile up big game after big game.
The Cowboys have their entire starting offensive line and depth back. And we added depth to the Transfer Portal. There is no need to worry too much on the offensive side of soccer.
Mike Gundy has a wealth of talent and experience on the offensive line while understanding that the group can and will continue to grow. This is very promising for the Cowboys next season.
“As we've been sharing with you for three weeks, we have to protect them. But they still have the ability to see all their different appearances and communicate with each other without talking. , knowing what they're doing, etc., getting decent reps,” Gandy said. “They know that if the backers move over here and get stuck, they're going to do this instead of that. It's just stuff that's never really enough.”
Simplifying the offensive line has played a big role in Oklahoma State's season turnaround after a 2-2 start to the season. Now, what they showed in the last 10 games of the season is how they will start the 2024 season.
“When you have a veteran offensive line, you can do so much more. You're such an integral part of the offense and you can really do the little details, and the younger guys are dizzy,” Gundy said. “These veteran guys can work on making you better.”
For Oklahoma State, the offensive line will be a position of strength next season and will help the rest of the offense move smoothly. With the new Big 12 available after Texas and Oklahoma State move to the SEC, it will be a great season with a lot of possibilities.
