ITHACA, N.Y. โ Cornell University's women's ice hockey team has enjoyed success this March. The team won last weekend against Quinnipiac University and will advance to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Conference Championship semifinals.
The team currently ranks fifth in the nation with a record of 24 wins, 6 losses, and 1 loss. The win advances the team to ECAC Championship weekend for the first time since the 2019-2020 season, according to Cornell University Athletics.
The women's team will play a semifinal game against No. 4 Colgate University on Friday, March 8 at 2 p.m. in Hamilton, New York, which will be streamed on ESPN+.
While the women's team quickly advanced through the quarterfinals, the men's team is still preparing for the start of the conference tournament. If that happens, the men will retain the conference's No. 2 seed with a win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Saturday night.
The 3-1 victory in front of the Lina Rink Senior Night crowd improved the boys team's record to 17-6-6 for the year, good for No. 13 in the nation. Freshman Jake Craft and juniors Jack O'Leary and Sullivan Mack scored for the Big Red, according to the athletics department.
