CLEMSON, S.C. — Head coach Brad Brownell and his staff have officially announced the addition of two transfer players to the roster starting with the 2024-25 season. Jayden Zachary (Salem, Wisconsin/Wetosha Central/Boston University) victor rakin (Anapa, Russia/CSKA-2/Cincinnati) Officially signed with the Tigers.
Zachary and Raquin join a freshman class that includes: dallas thomas (Little Rock, AR/Parkview Magnet), del jones (Largo, Maryland/Arizona Compass Preparation) and ace buckner (Cleveland, Ohio/La Lumiere School). The freshman class ranks 22nd in the nation, according to . 247 sports.
“I love Jayden's competitive spirit and have seen firsthand how he always does whatever it takes for his team to win. He plays all three positions on the perimeter in this league. He's a two-way player who has proven he can defend. Offensively, he plays the game very efficiently, scoring and distributing, and his numbers reflect that.”
Zachary was Boston College's third leading scorer (11.3 points) last season, adding 3.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He shot 48.4 percent from the floor, including 40.5 percent from three and 82.4 percent from the free throw line.
The Salem, Wis., native had 22 games in which he scored in double figures, including four games in which he scored 20 points a year ago. Zachary is a career 40.5 percent shooter from three and 45.5 percent from the floor. He had nearly as many rebounds as assists (331-330) and added 168 steals for 1,106 points during his career.
Zachary finished sixth in the ACC in assists (152; 4.22/game) and steals (63; 1.75/game) last season. He was ninth in assist/turnover ratio (2.14). He is a veteran who has played in 102 games, including 100 starts.
“Victor is an experienced post player who should bring scoring and rebounding to our team. Offensively, he has the ability to play in both the high and low posts, so he will fit well into our system. Defensively, he will provide rim protection to complement the team's defense.”
Rakkin is a veteran who has played in 91 games over the past two seasons, starting 56 of 62 games. He averaged 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in the 2022-23 season. He totaled 9.2 points and 6.0 rebounds last season. His rebounds per game ranked 12th in the Big 12 Conference last year.
The Anapa, Russia native scored in double figures in 13 games, including a season-high 26 points in the win over Eastern Washington. He had a season-high five blocks against Oklahoma. He had double-digit rebounds three times and had at least eight rebounds in a game 10 times.
For his career, Raquin averaged 8.5 points and 5.6 rebounds on 55.8 percent from the field. He totaled 74 steals and 78 blocks.
