Former Highlands men's basketball coach Corey Dotchin is ready to take over the Chartier Valley program.
Dotchin is listed on the Chartier Valley School Board agenda as a recommended candidate to be hired at Tuesday night's meeting. He had a 55-22 record in three seasons as Highlands' coach and spent the previous nine seasons as an assistant with the Rams.
He resigned at Highlands last month, saying he wanted to find a coaching job closer to home at Imperial. He and his wife, Leah, were expecting their first child later this year.
As an assistant coach, Dotchin helped the Highlands win a WPIAL title in 2020 and a runner-up season in 2016. He led the Rams to the semifinals twice as head coach.
At Chartier Valley, Dotchin will replace coach Brandon Senser, who resigned in February after six seasons. The Colts went 82-39 in Senser's first five years, but his final season was a bit rocky. He was placed on administrative leave with six weeks left in the season.
The Colts finished 11-12 overall and lost in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs. Senser cited a lack of support from school administrators when submitting his resignation.
