CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Calalen ISD officially hired Charlie Reeve as Calalen's next head football coach and athletic director on Monday, April 8th. He left Victoria in his 1 season in the East and finished with a record (8 wins and 4 losses) in his area round of the playoffs. .
“We are very excited to have Coach Reeve join Calallen ISD. He brings with him an impressive coaching history, a commitment to excellence, and a wealth of athletic leadership that will impact the entire athletic program. They come to us,” said Superintendent Emily Lorenz.
The Victoria native joins the Wildcats program in his second head coaching position, having spent 19 seasons coaching at Cuero, New Caney, Odessa Permian, Bay City and Katy Seven Lakes.Reeve also becomes Calallen's 18th head coach in program history.
Mr. Reeve will take over Calalen after Steve Campbell retires in February. Campbell led the Wildcats for two seasons, but spent a total of 42 years in CISD. Prior to that, Campbell worked directly under Texas' winningest football head coach, Phil Danaher.
After Danaher retired, Campbell led the Wildcats to a District 16 4A-DI championship success and record (13-1), but were eliminated in the fourth round of the playoffs. However, in 2023, Calalen lost to Beeville 27-25 in the first round.
Reeve was born into a coaching family. His younger brother Travis is the head coach at El Paso. His father, Mark, won 183 games in 18 seasons as a head coach. Reeve also played quarterback in college.
