PARK CITY, Utah โ Senior Soccer Night was celebrated Tuesday at Dodger Field at Park City High School with a game against the Cottonwood Colts.
Before the varsity game, players and their families took to center field to applaud, receive swag bags and have their accomplishments recognized over the PA system.
The Colts won 1-0 by heading a corner kick midway through the second half.

Head coach Anthony DiCicco told Town Lift before the game: Most of these members have been in the program for years and invest a lot of self into what we do, and we celebrate them and recognize their contributions to them and the program. I'm excited about that. โ
He added, “In this game, we want to combine our team's strengths and get a result. This is an important game for us as we continue to work towards the playoffs and the end of the season. One was to play our best soccer in May, so this is the next step in that journey.โ
Dodger Field has a new digital scoreboard that includes, for example, an image of the American flag waving during the national anthem, a QR code to purchase tickets to an upcoming banquet fundraiser, a list of local corporate sponsors, and player information. Some of these seniors are looking to attend Vanderbilt University, the University of California, Montana State University and UCLA next year.
Senior keeper Joe Croney's mother Laura and father Joe were in attendance. They told Townlift, “He grew up in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where there was a small soccer community, so it was great to come to Park City and have more competition and great coaching.” They went on to say, “This is a great night. It's fun to watch him on the field.'' He's excited about his next step in college. Park City High School has been a great experience for his son with this great team. โ
Quinn Kelly also plays on the Miners soccer team. He is a sophomore and has been on the varsity team since last year as a freshman. He told Town Lift during pre-game warm-ups: We're playing with a high intensity, so I think today we can carry that into the next game.'' He said, “It's a big night for the seniors. I know this is the last few games I can play with them.”
The varsity Miners team is 3-7 this season and has an away game at Hillcrest next Friday.
The JV team won the game against the Colts just before the game, 2-1.
