AHMEDABAD: A 41-year-old businessman from Paldi died of cardiac arrest while playing cricket at Rajpath Club on Sunday morning. Around 6.30am, a group came to the club's ground to watch a cricket match. During the match, one of the players Abhishek Shah collapsed. Other players rushed to take care of him. The club's medical officer was called and informed Shah's wife, who had come to the club for her morning walk, of the emergency. “We called the club medical officer and several others attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). But Shah did not regain consciousness. EMRI 108 ambulance was called and he was taken to a private car park behind the club. He was taken to the hospital,” the official said. Hospital officials told TOI that after tests, he was declared dead on arrival. “According to his medical history, he had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), a type of cancer that affects the immune system, about 10 years ago. An autopsy may reveal other factors that led to his cardiac arrest,” the official said. Shah, a regular at the club, had been playing cricket for the past three years and had also taken part in other fitness activities at the club, officials said. .
